On October 22, 2010, Michiel Oakes was wrongly convicted of premeditated murder.
Michiel pled not guilty by reason of self defense, a claim backed by physical ballistics evidence and an unimpeachable testimony. However, he was eventually found guilty due to the disallowance of critical, corroborating testimony in his defense.
